Mimo że dziś figuruje jako rodzaj miejscowości (PRNG, BDOT10k), wydaje się, że schronisko turystyczne nie było w interesującym nas okresie uznawane za miejscowość. Świadczy o tym brak wyróżnienia tej kategorii w spisie Bystrzyckiego, jak również sposób prezentacji na mapach: bez nazwy własnej, jedynie sygnatura i skrótem objaśniającym. Pojęciowo kategoria zbliżona do szałasów pasterskich i karczem (patrz przykład).

Although tourist shelter is nowadays classified as a kind of village (PRNG, DBTO10k), it seems that the tourist shelters were not considered localites in the period of our interest. This is due to the lack of this category in Bystrzycki's register, as well as the way of presentation on the maps: without the particular name, only symbol and explanatory abbreviation. Conceptually, this category is similar to shepherd's huts and inns (see: example).
